Good evening, Local 823.
We regret to inform you of an impending storm. As essential personnel, all employees scheduled to work are required to report as usual, regardless of the declared state of emergency, unless otherwise notified. We kindly request your best efforts to arrive on time.
While we previously granted amnesty, the company has expressed significant concerns regarding its misuse, leading to a revised policy. Should service be suspended, the same protocols as last time will apply: you will be directed to remain in the garage until road conditions improve and service resumes.
Please remain vigilant for any updates over the weekend. I will promptly relay any information received from New Jersey Transit.
During the storm, if your bus experiences any unintended movement, even a slight slide, you are instructed to immediately pull over, contact the control center, and report the vehicle as unsafe to operate.
This is crucial as the company holds drivers accountable for incidents resulting from compromised vehicle control. Therefore, if your bus exhibits unusual handling, slides, or has extended braking distances, please contact the Control Center and declare it unsafe to drive.
Further instructions will be provided at that time. A storm warning has been issued, effective from Sunday at 1:00 p.m. until Monday at 6:00 p.m. We anticipate 8 to 12 inches of precipitation. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate this situation.
In Solidarity
Elijah Spates Jr.
